Wearing white on Labor Day! Lea Michele gets in one last outfit before the fashion no-no kicks in

Looking all-white: Lea Michele sported a white dress on Labor Day as she headed to a friend's house for an end-of-summer brunch

Millions of young girls from around the world follow her style.

So Lea Michele must know a thing or two about fashion.

The 25-year-old pushed the boundaries by wearing a white dress on Labor Day yesterday as she headed to a friend's house in Los Angeles.

Perhaps the Glee star was getting in one last outfit before the fashion no-no of not wearing white after Labor Day kicks in.

Lea showed off her toned and tanned pins in an asymmetrical dress with floral detailing and chunky brown heels.

She carried a massive beach-style red bag and wore massive sunglasses to milk the nice weather before it goes away.

Her box fringe flattered and face and the rest of her shiny brown locks were pulled back into a sleek ponytail.

The exact reason for the fashion rule is unknown but some speculate that it was seen as disrespectful to wear white on a day celebrating workers as the colour was worn by the rich when leaving the city for their summer homes.

In an interview yesterday, Lea said she preferred her mum’s advice when it comes to clothes.

'I share a lot of clothes with my mom because we are the same size.

'Shoes are a problem though, my feet are bigger than hers! We share sweaters and jackets a lot. My mom has great style. I always followed her lead.'

Lea — who plays Rachel Berry in the hit high school show - has seen her style evolve since becoming famous, according to its creator Ryan Murphy.

He told Vogue recently: 'When I met Lea, she was only sort of interested in clothes. But in the last two years she's become a red-carpet star.

'I think what happened is Lea went to an event, and someone said, 'Oh, you look pretty.' It was an interesting moment for her.'
