Her 60-year-old father, who recently announced he was retiring from performing, is said to be thrilled at her landing the coveted role.

'He's just a proud dad,' said Lily, who is the rock singer's daughter from his marriage to American Jill Tavelman.

Inspiration: The film is based on the 1937 Disney classic animation

Lily is said to have impressed the producers of the film with her audition.

She said of the role: 'Snow White was my favourite fairy tale [growing up], and when I first read about the project, I was like, "I have to get in on this. It's such an iconic character."

The new film called The Brothers Grimm: Snow White will feature Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen.
