Ice ice baby: Chantelle Houghton stepped out in a dress made entirely from lettuce leaves at a photo call for PETA earlier today

There are not many people who would relish donning a dress made completely out of lettuce leaves regardless of the campaign.

But Chantelle Houghton seemed eager to dress up as a side salad and happily posed in her leafy vegetable outfit in Covent Garden earlier today.

The Ultimate Big Brother star was all tousled up to promote PETA’s vegetarian and vegan starter kits – to try and encourage people to choose vegetables over meat.

The cause is one close to her heart as Chantelle is a vegetarian and she seemed eager to get into her costume.

Chantelle tweeted: ‘@peta on way to PETA photocall, can't wait to wear the dress! Excited! X’

Later she tweeted a picture of herself in the green outfit and posted: ‘My PETA campaign is to raise awareness for people to become vegetarians/vegans! They have amazing starter packs! Stop cruelty to animals x’

The charity claims that for every person that turns vegetarian 100 animals are spared a year.

The glamour model, who is currently dating Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding, has been busy starting her own business in recent months and is preparing for the opening of her new shop in April.

Miss Hougton, who was born in Essex, is set to open her clothing and jewelry store next month.

The shop, called Vardo, will be located on Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill in her hometown.
