WAG with a fag: Alex Gerrard braves the cold for a quick cigarette in London

Cheeky fag: Alex Gerrard popped outside for a quick cigarette and stood outside their hotel as she and her husband Steven enjoyed a trip to London


With her Hermes Birkin bag on one arm and footballer husband Steven on the other, Alex Gerrard is the epitome of a WAG.

But rarely is a footballer’s girlfriend or wife spied smoking a cigarette so it came as a surprise to see Alex indulging in a cheeky puff in London yesterday.

As the couple arrived at their hotel and headed inside it was only a few minutes before Alex crept back onto the pavement for a nicotine fix.

The 28-year-old model was looked and primped and preened to perfection in a pair of grey skinny jeans, a skull printed T-shirt, black jacket a black suede ankle boots.

But she seemed eager to get her cigarette hit and was prepared to stand alone on the pavement outside the hotel in the cold.

Alex was last spotted enjoying in a cigarette on holiday with her family in 2008 as she sat relaxing by the pool.

Alex is not the only WAG, past or present, to indulge in the habit with and Cheryl Cole has also been spotted enjoying a cigarette in the past.

Victoria Beckham has also been spotted enjoying a cigarette and was even pictured puffing on a cigar aboard Roberto Cavalli’s yacht in 2005.

And although most footballers leave the smoking to their others halves, Wayne Rooney was spotted smoking after a night out in Manchester's Panacea bar in the summer last year.

Alex and Steven were enjoying a quick trip to the capital ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Everton tomorrow.
