Trying to quit: Katherine Heigl puffed on her electronic during lunch with a friend at Little Doms in Los Feliz, California
Most diet-conscious Hollywood actresses stay well away from carbohydrates but Katherine Heigl was getting stuck into a hearty pasta dish over a lunch date.
She accompanied her spaghetti with a pint of beer and her trusty electronic cigarette, while dining with a friend at Little Dom’s in Los Feliz, California.
Her high-carb diet wasn’t doing the actress any harm though, as she looked stunning in a pair of casual grey trousers and loose knit jumper.
Healthy appetite: The actress didn't avoid carbs at lunch as she ordered the spaghetti and a pint of beer
The Knocked Up star has been carrying her ‘SmokeStik’ everywhere she goes recently, as she’s trying to beat her addiction to nicotine.
She recently spoke of her efforts to kick the habit, saying: ‘You start once a week, maybe with a cocktail with friends at a bar, and then you buy your first pack during a really stressful break-up, and then it’s downhill from there.
Taking a break: Heigl is currently filming the romantic comedy New Year's Day but took a break to have lunch with a friend
‘I’ve tried everything. I’ve tried the patch. I’ve tried the gym. I’ve done the Chantix, twice, which made me bananas (a prescription medicine used as a quit smoking aid).’
The electronic cigarette uses water vapour and liquid nicotine. It is legal to use inside as the water vapour breathed out by users in harmless to others.
Casually chic: Heigl still maintained her glamorous appearance despite being dressed down in grey trousers and a baggy knit jumper
Meanwhile, Heigl, who is currently filming New Year’s Eve, has reportedly taken a pit bull into her care to nurse him back to health after he was badly injured in a fight.
The 32-year-old animal lover founded the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation and fronts the charity’s Hounds of Hope operation, which rescues cats and dogs from shelters.
And the pit bull, named Rufus, has apparently been adopted by Heigl after being beaten during the dog fight.
A source told the National Enquirer: ‘Katherine’s passion is rescuing dogs, and she wanted a new puppy for her adopted daughter Naleigh when Rufus came along.
‘Katherine was absolutely heartbroken when she saw how hurt the little guy was, so she paid thousands of dollars for multiple surgeries.’
